OUT LOUD Podcast
EPISODE 55: 2020 - The Best of a Bad Year It's our annual New Years episode. Kenney and Lola (with a few insights from our friend Dougystyle) take a look back at the year that was 2020 and focus in on all that was amazing about this otherwise bad year. And what was amazing was the music of LGBTQ artists. We chat about all the new parts of Qreview, listen to the music that got us through, highlight some artists that impressed and also take a look forward to where we're headed in 2021. All this plus a star studded podcast filled with many, many messages from the artists of the global LGBTQ community. We say so long to 2020 and hello to 2021 in this jam packed retrospective. Featuring the music of Butterfly Feels, Gregory Dillon and Zach Benson, Kingqueen, Melodic, Moistbreezy, Patrick, Prismetical, Siena Liggins, Stasney Mav & Clinton John, Tafari Anthony, Theo Tams, Tommy Atkins and Torrey Mercer. Artist Spotlight
Dinah Thorpe Queer Canadian artist Dinah Thorpe has been called “a composer of infinite cleverness”, a singer with a “gorgeously deep and weary alto”, “a wicked multi-instrumentalist”, and “provocative and supremely artful”. Drawing on a diverse range of influences – from folk to trip-hop, orchestral to techno – the Toronto-based artist has created a musical style that is unmistakably her own. She has recently released her fifth project, "For The Birds" and lead track, 'The Spring Flowers'. "For The Birds" showcases the work of an artist who has arrived. It is thoughtful and danceable, intricate and beautiful, and displays both Thorpe’s softness and her muscle. The record is comprised of 10 new fully original tracks, all written by Thorpe herself, as well as an enchanting cover of the Kacey Musgraves song, 'Slow Burn'.
