About: Making music, it was something that was always a New Years Resolution. Started saying that I was going to make music back when I was 21. But life had other plans for me. I wasn’t fully committed and wasn’t sure of where to start. I have been singing since I was at least 5 years old. I was always in the choirs at schools, would sing the songs my sisters would be listening to as we grew up. Eventually at one point I knew I could sing. But years go by and your voice just grows with changes and improvements. It wasn’t just until fall of 2016 that I knew I had something. I started to do karaoke and the responses to people in the room were always so comforting. Wound up making new friends who loved karaoke just as much as me and we became a close circle who would meet up at least a few times a week at The Trap (still one of my favorite places ever). One day people were like “do you make your own music?” and I was just like “nah. I just sing for fun” and they were like “a voice like yours doesn’t need to be in dive karaoke bars. you’ve got talent. you should consider doing this professionally and get noticed” ----- flash forward to 2018. In a relationship, going out all the time, singing all the time and just being emotional all the time. |
That’s when I really looked into music as a form of expression and telling people how I feel musically. I was going through it. I was in a relationship - was getting treated bad towards the end of it, got scammed, life felt like it was falling apart and I could not for the life of me figure out how to get my head above water, cause I was just drowning.
Wrote 7 songs over the course of the holiday season. Researched for studios, engineers and mixing/mastering geniuses only to find one who does it all ---- and a cheap rate too. Was a life saver. Recorded 6 songs in the span of 5 hours. Set a release date for May and just wound up fixing the broken part of my heart through the music.
I know, people have been through shit so what makes me so special? I was going through it. Hid it well from everyone, but deep down was depressed, drank too much and wrote about how I felt. Wrote about what I wanted and manifested positive vibes to get a sweet message across in my music.
I have loved singing for many years. I am musically uncultured but in time I will know all the songs to different artists. I will know the music lingo, I will understand most of everything. But in the meantime this young man is doing the things that he wanted to do at 15 years old.
Let this be a lesson, there’s never a time limit to live out your dream. I feel like I wasted my talent for years, but in reality I was taking the time to perfect it. My voice just wasn’t ready until now.
