Big Things.
12 LGBT Artists Making Big Impressions

We're often asked who we think the next big LGBT music artist will be. The truth is, it's a hard question, considering no one can possibly know every single LGBT music artist out there and most that we do know are just now starting to garner much overdue attention. Some artists burst out of the gate and some artists grow with time. And removing personal tastes is difficult even for the best of us.

So, we've put together a selection of artists we think you need to be paying attention to and who we believe are on the path towards becoming a big presence in music. Managing expectations is important. Being a big thing doesn't necessarily equate to Spice Girl level success. There is only one Spice Girls, so back away! No genuine success can come in many forms and mean many things towards creating longevity for an artists career. Will they stay in the spotlight, or move behind the scenes? Will performance eventually become production? Only time will tell, but we believe these 12 LGBT artists  have made, are currently making and will continue to make big impressions in music.

Katey Brooks
Katey Brooks immediately has you hooked with her bluesy folk flavour, her heart on her sleeve love of life and her story of overcoming adversary. Delivering storytelling that envelops you, her debut album "Revolute" deserves Grammy attention and she deserves an international stage. With a cascade of soul and a quiet strength that any room she plays in, Katey Brooks is undoubtedly an artist the world will know.

Picture
Rina Sawayama
Big sound, big presence, big personality. Everything about Rina Sawayama is big. Including her talent. Unflinching in tackling pop music her own way, mixing pop bops with electro beats and heavy guitar riffs, she gives pop music a Frankenstein make over that reads like an electric mosaic. She's unmistakenly Rina and with a 13 song debut album that fiercely scorches and slaps, you know she won't be boxed in.

Gregory Dillon
Gregory Dillon writes great songs. But he also has the uncanny ability of delivering that great writing alongside being both production savvy and vocally sublime. Combined, his music has a hypnotic ability of channeling emotional affect that draws you in, lays you out and genuinely makes you feel good. Added to this is the undeniable fact that he exudes a magnetic charm that fills space with what can only be described as endless positive energy.

Picture
Chaz Cardigan
Chaz Cardigan is the artist I needed when I was growing up. A relateable and real alt-rock/pop artist who can write a banger of a tune and rock it out on delivery. He's a multi-faceted artist with buckets of talent. But it's not only his musical chops that Cardigan brings to the table. He also has smarts and charm and puts it on display in his social media live sessions and his "Wild World" videos bringing fans interesting facts and tidbits about the world that we never hear about. He's the full package.

Joy Oladokun
Joy Oladokun is a singer/songwriter who fuses deep emotion into an R'nB/Gospel experience. And while it would be easy to make comparisons to current day artists, it's names like Tracy Chapman, Joan Aramatrading, Emmylou Harris and Bob Marley where you can hear the heart of influence beam through. Added to this is the embracing nature of her music and the soulful warmth of her voice. Undeniably, Joy Oladokun is a remarkable artist for the times.

Picture
Ryan Cassata
Young Ryan Cassata has combined music, artistry, perseverance and activism into a personal anthem. He has spoken at length about his struggles growing up as a transgender man and has turned adversity into triumph. And along the way has created a burgeoning music career as a crooning singer/songwriter. He's the voice of an old soul and the movement of a new generation of youth that won't be stopped or silenced.

Picture
Elliot Lee
No she is not the new Billie Eilish. She's the one and only Elliot Lee. It's hard to describe Elliot Lee because nothing is as it seems. And that's part of the magic. A small brightly colored and whimsical package that erupts with dark, edgy sounds and lyrics that make you want to get up and move all the while slipping you messages about all the chaos in the world. With creative surprise around every corner, Elliot Lee is an unmistakably mesmerizing suckerpunch.

Picture
Davy Boi
If there's someone who will be a mover in music, it's Davy Boi. From the first listen of his single 'Dirty Mind' you know he's an artist who gets it. Then you hear him talk about music and you know he's an artist who is carrying a very large arsenal of raw talent mixed with savvy music smarts. In an industry where artists are often generating track after track to maintain relevance and presence, Davy Boi is taking a stealthy approach. A talent for music and a mind for business, Davy Boi is playing the long game.

Picture
Bugz Gutta
Artist and CEO of Pynk Gorilla Entertainment, Bugz Gutta is not waiting for opportunity, he's creating it. And not only for him, but for other artists who have long been shuffled to the corner out of the line of sight. Bugz is at the forefront of a new wave of urban artists ready to take their seat at the table and change the rules of the game so that everybody gets to play. And doing it all while still kicking ass with his own brand of musical brilliance.

Picture
Caveboy
Canadian indie sensation Caveboy are turning pop music on its head with their new album "Night in the Park, Kiss in the Dark" by celebrating everything that is great about the genre. Slick electro pop and bold indie charm flows through and all over the album, highlighting everything we love and look for in strong pop songs but breaking the mold and taking it all to the next level. They are stepping out of the cave and into the light and are shaking up the pop band landscape.

Picture
Kisos
Equal parts artist, entertainer and marketing whiz, Kisos sees beyond what's directly in front of him to understand the broader music world and the impact of LGBT artists in it. Acting as a conduit at times, most recently with his Queerantine music video show, the outspoken and overt Kisos continues to operate as an indie nexus, bringing artists together to share their work, experiences and support one another.

Picture
Jordy
In a short period of time Jordy has amassed an impressive music catalog, releasing hit track after hit track. Captivating and sincere he quickly steals the hearts of audiences. With each release he has taken further steps towards cementing himself as one of LGBT's premiere original pop stars. Loved by the masses with the talent to back it up, Jordy continues to light up music with no slowing down.
