Video Premiere: Singer/Songwriter Brooklyn Doran Presents Nostalgic New Single and Video 'This Town Won't Miss You'
Muylti-talented and rising Canadian singer/songwriter Brooklyn Doran has released her new single along with music video for new song 'This Town Won't Miss You".
“'This Town Won’t Miss You' is a song that I wrote about my hometown, and all of the nostalgia I have for that place. I remember distinctly looking into the window of the house my grandmother used to live in, and feeling so shaken up to see that it looked completely different than how I remembered it as a kid. The house had sold, new people had moved in, it had been redecorated and all that I had left was my memories.
When Covid-19 hit, I went back to my hometown for the summer, and lived in the house that I grew up in. It was bizarrely the same, but also something really fundamental had shifted for me in coming back having lived so far away for so long. Nothing stays the same for very long, and I felt the version of this place that I had known slowly slipping away from my memories and being replaced with a new, albeit familiar, version of a place that I had once known. It felt like visiting an old flame after moving on. That is what inspired the video we shot with local filmmakers Matt Kennedy of Upriver Media and Nic Camire. I wanted to showcase all of these little gritty places in my hometown that someone who grew up here would immediately recognize and feel nostalgic about, but that someone just passing by would never give a second glance to."
'This Town Won't Miss You' was recorded at Catherine North Studios pre-pandemic, produced by Dan Hosh (City and Colour, Wild Rivers) and features many incredibly talented players including Olivier Fairfield, Anna Ruddick, Dean Drouillard, Jaye Schwarzer and Mike Tudisco.
