First single for a new era of creativity
"Innovation" and "progressive" are words quickly becoming synonymous with the music and style of New York artist Dandelot. Since bursting onto the indie scene in his memorable blue and yellow face make-up with his trailblazing debut single 'David', Dandelot has been an artist to watch and an exciting new presence in music. Mixing experimental approach with original concepts in music production, Dandelot has raised the bar on the music roadway. Now he's back with the synth and bass charged 'Capital' and sits ready to take us on a new musical journey into discovery. We're here for it and happy to be a passenger for the next Dandelot adventure. Buckle up!
Press Release
Merging a bouncy hip-hop beat with classically influenced orchestral strings and a Moog synthesizer loop, “Capital” is an upbeat, catchy tune that channels Dandelot’s experience both as a producer and as a classical pianist and composer.
In this track, we hear an expression and a critique of the chaos and exploitation brought about by systems of capitalism throughout the world. The turbulence and conflict heard in the music, particularly in the synthesizer and background vocals, as well as the contradiction and biting of the lyrics, highlight the turbulence and conflict evident in our society.

"I think this track really brings together the strongest parts of my musical identity. Hip-hop, dance music, and classical music are really my greatest loves and I think they each show up pretty noticeably in the strings, the synth part, the drums, and the vocals, of course."

DANDELOT
For his debut single “David”, Dandelot was described by Q Mag as a “forward-thinking, writing, producing, performing visionary that everyone needs to be paying attention to.” You can expect more from this groundbreaking artist very soon as he has a string of upcoming singles and an album due out later this year.
Dandelot is the musical project of Kevin Shoemaker, an emerging artist who draws heavily from a background in classical piano and composition. His solitary approach to music making casts him as the songwriter, producer, performer, and engineer of his tracks. Working from a small writing studio in downtown Brooklyn, Shoemaker is the consummate perfectionist, doing “DIY” with a control freak’s precision.
Prior to working on Dandelot, Shoemaker first gained recognition as a pianist, being featured in the NY Post and WQXR, as well as playing for various esteemed New York City dance institutions, such as Mark Morris Dance Group, Lincoln Center, The New School, and Ballet Tech. He also began composing for film and television and working on hip-hop production for local acts. His solo work on Dandelot, in many ways, is a culmination of all these various sounds and styles. Drawing from stylistic heros like Daft Punk and Kanye West as well as a firm foundation of classical composition, Dandelot is a unique intersection of influences, styles, and tastes.

“With a background in classical piano and composition, this New Yorker and self-described "perfectionist" brings his music to life by playing in many musical fields and challenging the lines of expression.” (Q Review)
