Loving Gregory...Again.
Gregory Dillon Releases Acoustic Version and 2 Videos for 'Love Again'
Once is never enough for us, especially when it comes to Gregory Dillon. So when we heard he was releasing a new acoustic version of his delectably dreamy single 'Love Again', our response was an instantaneous "Yes Please!". We'll take any chance to hear new Gregory, even new versions. And this new stripped back Gregory is fantastic. Everything you want from a Gregory Dillon track and more! We'll also take any chance to chat with Gregory so when the love called out, we were waiting to answer.
It’s the season of love and you’re giving us a new take on a Gregory Dillon favorite by releasing a stripped back, acoustic style version of ‘Love Again’.
So, other than it being Valentines, why re-release rather than a new song?
I really didn’t expect love again to come full circle. For listeners new to Love Again, I wrote the track a year ago in Sweden when a lot of questions were hazing my mind on if I could actually love again. I think I got some definite answers over this year but when re-examining the song I realized that all this time I was still increasingly shy from the fear of “am I enough for someone.” This song made approach the fragile boy inside who needed to remember what i means to love himself. <3
When stripping back a song, what’s the starting point and how does the process differ from that of originally writing the song?
I used to always sneak into my high school chapel after class to play piano when no one was around. There’s a side of me that feels nostalgic taking my music to a softer place and it tends to start with the concept that I’m just playing this one for myself.
Your vocals are even more present and affecting acoustically. As an artist is it vocally challenging to remove so much from a song?
You’re too sweet. Something about the guitars, played and produced by my friend Noah Wood, made it really easy for me to sing so vulnerably in the acoustic version.
You have an uncanny ability to create infectious melodies. Have you considered or ventured into the idea of creating for film and soundtracks?
Film scoring was the course in college I happily/frequently pulled all-nighters for. Not many people know I studied orchestral music, but scoring a film like ‘Call Me By Your Name’ or ‘Drive’ is a dream of mine.

You also have a full music video for ‘Love Again’ which you didn’t have the first time around. What was it about the acoustic version that made you want to create a video for this version?
I somehow found the momentum to film a video for both the acoustic and original! The acoustic video is me on the ny subway daydreaming over my crush with flowers and some fun animation edited in. As far as the love again og video: I came across the most amazing racquet ball court this month and it sparked an idea to have two Gregs battle it out on the court. That, and I wanted an excuse to wear short shorts and show off my calves.
What’s the process for you when creating a music video? Are you the primary visionary?
For the bigger production video, I had the pleasure of collaborating with director Joe Fusco on this project. He's like a brother to me and we are excited to show this off soon.
Your videos have been very creative and full of color.
Color always puts a twist on the video but this time around you’ll see color define two characters. White vs Red. Insecurity vs Passion.
How do you choose which songs to do music videos for?
I day dream in music videos. Unfortunately, it’s more about how many nickels I can find in the dryer to make it happen.

You’ve had a number of live shows recently. Are you thinking about a tour anytime soon?
Like Noah’s arc; if you build it, I will come… Except not in pairs… (but maybe in animal form)… (but only sexy animals)… a tour in 2020 sounds great! ^~^
What’s been your favorite live gig so far?
Bushwig Festival was a high in 2019. I had food poisoning the whole day of show (don’t fall for unlimited toppings on a salad) but it ended up being so good for my nerves because all I could think about was orange gatorade and not puking. When I finally got on stage I was almost in a trance and I really went all out. I had never performed for that many people before and I was feeling so much love for them!
I can’t imagine you in any other career, but if you weren’t a musician what would you be doing?
I have a secret talent for face folding celebrities out of magazines articles. I think they may be worth something.
So what’s coming next for you? Will you be collecting your singles into a collection? Will we see even more new music?
I’m so close to finishing an EP. It’s been like waiting for eggs to scramble on low heat but they are finally starting to fluff!!!
Finally, it being the season of love, how will you be spending your Valentines this year?
A romantic dinner with Q Review, over Olive Garden’s unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks.
