Israel’s Hovi Star (born Hovi Sekulets) is very familiar with the international music stage having successfully made it to the grand final of the 2016 Eurovision contest representing his home country, finishing 14th overall. Hovi Star now continues his own musical journey with the release of his new single and music video for ‘Silver Spoon’.
Both song and video are a bold introduction to who Hovi Star is as an artist. With a career that also includes stage, film and voice acting, it’s not shocking that his new single would be a statement filled with plenty of dramatic moments and musical punches. In true expressive fashion ‘Silver Spoon’ the song is as anthemic as the video is fearlessly theatrical. Visually it is an opulent centerpiece for Hovi Star’s artistic passion. It’s filled with black and silver imagery of wind swept dancers and movement, ultimately ending with Hovi wearing a literal crown made of silver spoons. No amount of creative spark was spared in bringing this epic piece to life.
As a song there is a presence of almost ostentatious emotion that feels as though Hovi is saying “I dare you to try and not notice me”. There’s is a definite power surging behind him and a command to be seen. All of this is wrapped up in combination with the strength of his vocals and a personality that demands your attention. It makes it impossible not to notice Hovi Star, and even more difficult to look away.
