Hooked on Noah.
by Q Review Staff
From American Idol to releasing brand new music, it's been a whirlwind for Noah Davis and things don't appear to be slowing down anytime soon for the Arkansas crooner. With a voice to be reckoned with, as bold as they come, he packed his bags and headed to California on the adventure of a lifetime. Now he's dropping a new single and looking ahead towards even more excitement.
With new pop bop 'Hooked', he's ready to raise the stakes and enter the music ring with a big bang. He lost his wig with Katy Perry but found his groove in LA and now I'm certain we're all going to be hooked on Noah Davis. We managed to sneak a listen to the track (PREPARE People! Y'all ain't ready for this jam!) and asked Noah about the Idol life and what's in store for his LA future.
Hey Noah, it's been just over a year since you left American Idol. What's the biggest thing you took away from your time on the show?
I think the biggest thing I took from the show is a confidence boost! Having so many people in the industry tell me I’m good enough made a high impact on me. Coming off the show was the first time I’d ever felt like I seriously had a shot at being an artist!
How have things changed for you since leaving the show?
My life has kind of done a 180 to be honest! I took that confidence and inspiration and moved to LA to start working on my career! Without the show I don’t know if I would have ever made the move or even tried my hand at a career in music. The show also brought me so many supporters and having people constantly showing me love and appreciation and support is something that I would have never imagined!
You've made the move from Arkansas to California. How has the move been? What has been the biggest surprise for you?
The move has been incredible! I’ve been working on so many things and meeting people and releasing music. The biggest surprise for me was that there are genuine people here who want to support you. Everyone told me to watch out for people who are fake or want to use you, so when I made the move, I was so scared I wouldn’t make any friends or have anyone in my corner. But it’s just the opposite! I’ve made friends in the past 8 months who I believe will be in my life forever! I’ve made friends that support my music and are also in the industry so they guide me and help me. It’s really amazing to have met people who don’t have to associate with me or support me yet they still care for me so much!
Have you been able to connect with many of the artists out there?
Yes!! I feel like I'm always meeting new artists! People that I've been looking up to for years are now the people I turn to for advice or text when I’m feeling down! It’s just amazing to surround myself with people who are on a similar journey as me. It makes life so much easier and so much more beautiful to be around other people who love music and art as much as i do!

It's an exciting time for you right now. You have a new single 'Hooked' about to be released. What's the story behind it? How did it come about?
'Hooked' is actually the first song I ever wrote. I had just moved into my apartment - I had no bed, no furniture, nothing... but I had a piano. One day I was just thinking to myself that if I’m gonna be an artist I need to write music about my experiences and my life and since I’d never written a song before, this was a bit overwhelming. But I sat down at the piano 8 months ago and wrote my first song, “Hooked.” It’s about someone I had a relationship with and knew I should just let go. But something about this person wouldn’t let me go. They’d call or text and my feelings would come rushing back no matter how much I wanted to end it. They had me hooked I guess you could say!
How long did it take to write? Was it a long process or did it come together quickly?
The whole song actually came to me in about 15 minutes! Which is definitely the shortest writing process I’ve ever had! The words and melodies just came flooding out and when I was done, I was so proud of this song. I waited 8 months to let the right person help me bring it to life. When I met Carson Thatcher, the producer on "Hooked", I instantly knew he was the one who was going to do it the most justice. He’s so artistic and so creative and he helped me turn this song into so much more than I ever expected. I’m so so excited for everyone to hear our work!
Is it the first of new releases? Are we headed towards an EP or full album?
I’m for sure planning on an EP but this single won’t be a part of that EP. The EP I’m starting to envision is so special and I can’t wait to start working on it! There’s obviously so much more music to come but I’m taking it day by day :)
What are the challenges you've experienced getting to this point of releasing your single?
Honestly, my only challenge is getting out of my mind! I think as an artist you want so badly for everyone to love what you do. You want everyone to love your art so much so that you can get lost writing music that will please other people, or music that you think everyone wants or will like, so I really wanted to create something that I'M in love with. I fully believe that if you are in love with what you create it will show in your art and other people will love it to! That’s why i’m so excited about this song because it’s something I’m in love with and can’t wait for other people to be in love with too!

You've been fairly active on social media and have a strong following. Social media can definitely be both a supportive and negative experience. How do you maintain a strong presence without being overwhelmed by negativity. How do you stay grounded?
Plain and simple, I’m a bad bitch. I don’t even let negativity phase me because I’ve put a lot of work into becoming the person I am today. I’ve dealt with hate my whole life and finally got to the point where I realize my worth and the people I love and care about are the ones whose opinions I listen to. When people hop online and say they don’t like my music, or they don’t like my voice, or if someone comments on my appearance, I keep in mind that their words don’t change the person I know myself to be. If I’m feeling myself, no one can bring me down.
Where do you draw inspiration from for your music? Who are your musical influences?
I draw from so many people to make up my own little vibe! Artists like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, and more recently, Lizzo bring out the bop in me, while artists like Sam Smith, Adele, and H.E.R inspire me to incorporate serious emotion and feelings into my writing so that I can be real and transparent in a song but still drop it low while I listen to it!
Who are you currently listening to? Who do you have on repeat?
Right now I’m really feeling Lizzo, Carlie Hanson, Bazzi, Ariana, and Parson James! I always have their music on repeat in the car!
If you were to collaborate on a song with other artists, who would be the dream collaboration?
I’ll say it again, Lizzo! I think it would be so fun to collaborate with Lizzo and create a masterpiece of a bop. Lizzo embodies the confidence and positive energy I try to bring into the world! It would be epic to just meet and chat with her but a collab... I wouldn’t be able to contain myself.
What do you get up to when you're not making music?
I love movies. I'm always in the mood to watch a movie. If anyone is wanting to know the way to my heart literally just text and say “wanna come over and watch a movie”. Disney movies get extra points too! If i’m not working on anything you can almost guarantee that I’m watching a movie somewhere!
If you could go anywhere in the world right now where would you go and why?
I would go to Royal, Arkansas. I miss my family everyday! I’m just so thankful to have a family that supports me in everything I do! Don’t get me wrong, I love LA and I’m starting to see this city as my home but I’ll jump at any opportunity to see my family!
What’s one last thing you want listeners to know about you?
That I love them. If you are someone taking time out of your day, or money out of your wallet to listen to my music, then I couldn’t thank you enough. You make my heart happy. You make my soul happy. And you’re literally making my dreams come true! Love you so very very much!
