It's always special when you get a video that shows the life of an artist, and that's what we get with Sam Tsui's latest release 'Carousel'. From infancy through to his marriage to his artist husband Casey Breves and all the steps in between, Sam lets us in on many moments of magic that has been his life experiences.
The song itself is an enjoyable mid-tempo sway filled with many peaks and valleys to provide ample moments of reflection and nostalgia. While the video serves to elevate that connection to past memories, equally powerful is the strength in restraint and the clarity of Sam's vocals.
Often times songs with such strong emotional connections can become diluted by packing the track too tight with over the top vocal explosions. By restraining the urge to push too hard into the vocal stratosphere we're treated to the softer and sweeter tones of his voice. It's in these moments that we can truly hear that emotional relationship with the many fond memories he's invited us to be part of.
And for that we have to say, thanks and play it again Sam.
