Tre Vaughn "Sev7en" Taylor has been creating and dropping new music throughout the entirety of 2019. Now, as we prepare to end not only the year but the decade, Sev7en has one last drop to make...new Mixtape "Confessions of a Legendary Stunt Queen". These confessions will get the party started and we checked in with Sev7en to ask about how this project took shape and who exactly is the "Stunt Queen". The answer may surprise you.

Confessions of a Legendary Stunt Queen is the new mixtape. Where did that title come from and are you the legendary stunt queen in question?
The mixtape title came to me — 3 am in the morning and I legit wrote it down. From there the theme and everything masted itself together.
I’ll say “ Jimmie “ my rap alter ego is the legendary stunt queen. — haha.

How does a mixtape differ from an album for you? Is there more of a freedom to create in different music worlds?
Yes. With a mixtape you have much more freedom and you’re able to do anything you can think of. Albums are structure and more pressure to create. — You want timeless music but you really want timeless album(s).

You’re known for a lot of freestyle and the project has 12 tracks. How much freestyle vs. written work is on the mixtape. Do you have a preference between the two?
Most written songs were first freestyles. So I’ll say half and half. I’ve normally been freestying lately then write them down for memory purposes.

How did the project come about? Was there one song that you created around?
This project created itself. I honestly didn’t know if a new mixtape was gonna be created this year or not. I’m happy to share this body of work. It reflects appreciate for ballroom history. A space that was created for black bodies to have equality— in competition, winning and imagination.

There are a number of track titles that immediately grab attention. I’m particularly drawn to ‘Butch Queens Love Trap Music Too.Png’ and ‘Give Them Girls Horror’. Where does the inspiration for your songs come from?
I show the art of rap in many forms and respond to the criticism I hear. I’m always pushing my pen and flow. Each track tells a different story of my need to get some sh*t off my chest. Those two tracks are some of my faves off the project.

Is there a running theme throughout the project or was there a specific vibe you were going for?
Theme is ballroom with a twist. The tracks paints visual imagery in the Listeners head. The project itself is gritty and playful.  It goes perfect with the title and theme.

Between the track titles and the sleeve photo, this seems like it could be a great party project. Do you have a certain listener in mind when creating the full package?
I create for all the weirdos. All the people that didn’t feel like they had a narrative. I’m for everyone that’s truly in love with their craft.

There are a few collaborations on the menu crape with ADAI and Diamond Encrusted. What do you look for in a great collaborator?
Being able to speak the same language. Working with them both was amazing and needed. They both were eager to create dope sounds and get them down as fast as we could. I love to go into the studio and create. It was a pleasure to work with them both. We created bops. Please check out their solo music.

You’ve put out a sizable amount of new music in 2019. What can we expect for 2020?
So much more — of course music videos and major business moves.
And a NEW EP.

What’s been your standout memory over the past year? What moments were the defining highlight for you?
Being booked for venues and taking in those moments when I meet people that truly appreciate my music. Touching and inspiring people with my music. Showing the world how Indie artists are marketable and we can too — have it all. And I can’t forget all the love I get.
