With the release of ‘Memory’, SXMSON explores yet another aspect of his experiences in Love. As the title suggests, Memory is about a relationship that has come to a stage where it is nothing more than a ‘Memory’. Drafting from his own experience as a queer guy in the LGBT+ dating scene, Memory was written by SXMSON in a phase where he was trying to move on and forget about his ex. Doing justice to the production, with his smooth vocals, SXMSON yet again has found his way to create a catchy tune, balancing between Pop & R&B.
Born and raised in the North-West of London, Iranian/Jewish SXMSON grew up listening to 90s R&B music. This was the sound that eventually inspired him to pursue a career as a R&B/Pop singer-songwriter. Having written and worked in the studio writing material with the likes of Grammy nominated Maths Time Joy (Mahalia, Snakehips, Gallant), Gil Lewis (Liv, Dawson, Eurovision 2018) and OneBit (Noah Cyrus), as well as writing for developing artists on their own projects, there is a lot more to expect from this talent on the rise.
Starting to develop his skills as an artist at the age of 16, SXMSON made his first steps in the music industry as a songwriter. During and after his studies at the University of Leeds, SXMSON continued to work alongside a wide array of producers. This is where he gathered inspiration from growing up in an Iranian/Jewish household and identifying as LGBT+.
Coming out to his family and friends at the age of 20 has had quite the impact on SXMSON’s sound. His experiences of coming to terms with his sexuality brought a new meaning to his music and more clarity in his message that he wants to share with his listeners. Inspired by queer music and the on-going work of the LGBT+ community, SXMSON wants his listeners and fans to be confident and take pride in their sexual identity. His own journey of self discovery motivated SXMSON to shift from songwriting to singing, and gave him the courage to strive for his maximum potential in the music industry.
With previous acclaim of his music from the likes of BBC Introducing, KCRW Radio in LA and actress Chloe Grace Moretz, SXMSON has been described as “a new rising star” (Earmilk) with “one of the most engaging vocals” (About to Blow). Fully focused on his musical career right now, SXMSON is a promising new act we can expect to hear a lot more from.
